Story continuation writing integrates reading comprehension and written production in a single task. Learners must construct a coherent continuation from an incomplete source text while maintaining plausible character development, causal logic, discourse continuity, and appropriate linguistic alignment with the input. Recent studies have shown that continuation tasks can support phraseological development, lexical alignment, cohesion, vocabulary learning, and writing strategies, but classroom practice may still overemphasize plot formulas, decontextualized “advanced expressions,” and one-shot products. Drawing on recent continuation-task research published from 2021 to 2026, this conceptual paper proposes a six-stage instructional cycle: Read, Analyze, Plan, Write, Feedback, and Revise. The model first builds a situation model through close reading, then extracts narrative clues and language resources, develops a causal two-paragraph plan, supports timed aligned production, differentiates the functions of teacher, peer, and technology-mediated feedback, and finally requires purposeful rewriting and transfer reflection. The proposed cycle translates these research-informed priorities into a structured, classroom-oriented sequence for senior high school continuation writing instruction. The central argument is that effective continuation teaching should balance source grounding with constrained creativity and should treat feedback and rewriting as integral parts of learning rather than post-writing correction. The proposed model offers a practical framework for converting recent continuation-task research into an implementable classroom routine while acknowledging the need for further empirical validation in different school contexts.
